Promises of a firefly

Serene Corrigan

A beautiful night sky stretched above the altar.

Divineness of the stars, the clouds and the moonbeam altogether.

Eyes wondering everywhere around, amusing serenity above and below.

Millions of star in the sky, but eyes searching for you.

Fireflies flickering around, pulsating along.

Blinking in an unheard rhythm, singing of your ethereal beauty.

Painting the night in an unearthly hue.

Falling for you, you fell for me.

Relinquishing the heavens, you made me alive.

Glittering, dispersing fireworks in the wide sky, you fading away.

Like a song of fireflies I hear you say:

Let's make a promise over the fireflies,

Let's meet again in another life where the end begins, in your skies.
