The Okura Museum Of Gekkeikan(Wolgye-Gwan)

Kinsley Lee

In the millennium-old, the ancient capital streets,
No smoking the tall chimney're imposing like sophora trees.
Countless people continue their stepping beats,
The old water, once brewed rice-wine is delightful in breeze.

  • Comment from author about the poem: During my trip in Japan, I visited the Okura museum of GekKeiKan(Wolgye-gwan) located in Kyoto, the old sake maker. I tried to express the feelings of that place.

    Brilliant!
(To look with our own eyes
    As that our forefathers did
    to appreciate and word poetic
    to bridge a togetherness beyond
    war's legacy of hate
to attune our awareness and relish
in all the beauty that abounds
what more can we ask of life
aside a slice of love and little
    laughter, once in a while...)
