('Oft in danger, oft in owe')
John 15 v.1-5
********
Jesus He be the true Vine
He be human and divine
And God the Father He be
Husbandman, vinedresser, see
Every branch in Christ that bears
Not fruit, it His life not shares
For He does take it away
It unfruitful in its day
And every branch that fruit bears
It at times is pruned, it shares
In that, so it may bring forth
Productive fruit and more worth
God the Father He does prune
Fruitful branches late or soon
May be chastening, some pain
But that it bear fruit again
Now we are clean through the word
Christ spoke to us, we it heard
He says to in Him abide
Branches in the vine reside
As vine's branches cannot bear
Fruit alone, but they must share
In the life of the vine, see
Christ says, So abide in me
He the vine, the branches we
Abide in Christ, and He, see
Abides in us, such shall bring
Forth much fruit in each good thing
For without Christ we can do
Nothing, we dependent too
On Him, and in Him we live
He to us true life does give
