Gimmies

2781

Gimmie this, I'll have that!

The freebie spirit has left me flat.

What happened to dignity?

We used to pay our way.

Not lowering the limit,

An honest price we'd pay.

A pauper spirit bred with covetous,

It all there on display.

Silver won't save them,

Let their gold turns to dust.

Short changing someone else's labour,

Leaves me with disgust.

I once knew a woman,

Dying and old.

She had no money,

So possessions she sold.

Pennies on the pound,

That's what you'll get.

Then a king hearted friend,

Gave her cash,

Not a cheque.

He paid more than its worth,

So I am told.

A true gentleman,

That spirit of old.
