The White Wisp

Rest. In. Peace
The words a man sees on a slab of rock
Surrounded by slabs and slabs, all with similar messages
A sea of names across a sea of fog
But there’s something the man notices
The green Evergreens ever so green
The blue Sky soaring through the above
This is not right
This doesn't seem right at all
This is no afterlife
No heavenly clouds
No pools of fire and lava
Not even a dark empty void full of null
The man is not where he’d thought he would be
Instead, somewhere worse
The place he tried to escape
Still latches on to him
Even after the end

His overwhelming thoughts were interrupted by the Gray Owl
The Owl begins to speak
Talking about letting go of the rope
How did the Owl know of that
The man, utterly confused, decides to just drift away
You can’t escape that way
The Owl said, hinting to follow it
But the Man ignores the Owl and continues
But stops, and just like that
His mind twists and turns, bends and folds
Then it breaks
Now suddenly, he is back to facing the Grey Owl
Hmm, shattering huh.
The Owl becomes intrigued
I told you, now come, lets see where you mind takes us
Seeming like there's nowhere left to go, the man ends up following the Gray Owl

The Owl should ask wisp of white, what is your understanding
His understanding he never understood
So it never meant anything to him
Never needing it in life
Not like it would let him use it
But as the man begins to think
And think
The World transforms
It twists and turns, bends and folds
Then it breaks
Looks like were here
In front of the man is something horrific
Covered by a sea haze, a river sits undisturbed
Below the water lies what seem to be random objects
The foolish ones, the Owl say
Suddenly, I bridge appears from river
At the end, lies a door
Nothing fancy, just a simple wooden door
But though it's on the other side of the bridge
The door feels warm
Inviting
Like it's asking you to come over

Crossing the bridge, the owl leads the man to the door
And just like before
The door is warm, hot even
Then the door asks the man
What is your understanding
His understanding he never understood
So it never meant anything to him
Never needing it in life
But this isn't life
The man begins to think
And think
Now this time, the door twists and turns, bends and folds
But instead of breaking
The door reshapes itself
Back to the way it was

NO
The door rejects the man
Oh that’s a shame.
Your understanding was simply too weak, the Owl said
The man questions how to make it stronger
Well, you're too late
Besides...
…white is simply too bland
The Owl pushes the man into the river
Extinguishing the white flame
The word "betrayal" runs through his mind
As a white wisp no more
The man deteriorates
As his body twists and turns, bends and folds
Then it breaks
And breaks
And breaks
All until all of him is his misunderstanding
A simple rope
