NO REPLY

nephilim56

I may not answer when you knock
The telephone may ring without reply
The air you breathe no longer shared
For I am here and yet gone.

You will not see me on the street
Though in dream we may meet
Be it brief and free of word
Merely passing with a smile.

My possessions you may keep
Looking less at them each day
Remembering less my words
The things I used to say.

The Seasons will pass by
Under an ever changing sky
As you grow older than me
Then you will realise I am free.

People may ask how and why
Some may even weep
Never to understand in life or death
I merely took an early step.
