Colors

Hazel Reese

If my poetry was a color

 it would be maroon

So that way

I could always find my way back to you

And I am going to hand you a paint brush

So, you can paint over the walls filled with hatred and war

Fill it in with the smiles you have shown

The hardships you have overthrown

I love

the way that your heart is strong enough to fill in all the holes in the ozone

And the way your innocence shines through the darkness

The way you say things like

Ms.Hazel, show me how you can make your arms have blue lines

Or when you try to hand me a half eaten cooking

And how you laugh at all my jokes

Even through they are terrible

And I love knowing the fact that one day

When I fall off the stage

Your little hands will help me up

You will tell me to be brave

And when you think that this will never happen

I can tell you

You do this every day
