Unrequited Affection: Unseen Love

@merci

PART 1

I was walking down the road,

 So distracted by my phone.

With Instagram reels consuming my mind,

Taking up most of my time.

And suddenly, I saw you,

 With your tall, striking figure.

And your lovely eyes so true,

Those perfectly curved lips, a beguiler.

I was struck by lightning's force,

 For a minute, I couldn't look away.

Your eyes were all I could endorse,

And those sensual lips, I must say.

I wished to spend my day, it's true,

Watching you, never letting go.

But you were pulled away, out of view,

 By a lady, beauty I didn't know.

And with a quick kiss upon the lips,

You vanished from my sight, out of reach.

But your memory remains vivid in my mind,

As if I saw you today or we were together.

But alas, reality sets in,

I sit by the roadside, lost in thought.

Hoping for your return, my heart's akin,

Yet you never did, the truth unsought.

For nearly two years, I persisted,

In search of you, longing to find.

I awaited your comeback, but time resisted,

But the truth revealed you were gone, undefined.

Then, I surrendered, my hopes dismissed,

Accepting your departure, knowing it's true.

Yet, my mind refuses to let you go,

You're all I dream of, and day by day, I pursue.

My love for you continues to grow,

I still feel my heart flutter at the thought,

Of your beautiful face, a radiant glow,

You'll forever reside in my heart, inwrought.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem inspired by my best friend, who experienced a sudden and intense infatuation with a guy she barely knows. She saw him only once, and yet he has captivated her thoughts ever since. However, she doesn't even know his name, and he remains oblivious to her existence. Despite this, she continues to think about him every single day, her feelings lingering unrequited and unnoticed by the object of her affection.
