Desirous Dwelling

Tune: Saffron Waldon

(one tune to 'Just as I am')

Psalm 26 v.8

********

Lord, I have loved the habitation

Of your house, joy and elation

And the place where your honour dwells

It your Temple, each tells

You have Jerusalem chosen

To be your city, that the one

You there will abide, there will rest

By your presence we blest

Yet your throne in heaven, you reign

Show your great works to us again

Heaven and earth cannot contain

All of your hosts and train

In worship her we humbly bow

Or in praise rise, and so tell how

Of your great works, your salvation

Open to each nation

Help us your house, your Temple, use

To ordained purpose, not abuse

As den of thieves, but house of prayer

All nations here may share

Our souls delight, no greater place

To abide, see by faith your face

And go out into the world, share

Of your glory most fair

How good and how lovely to be dwelling together in such harmony as to be desirous of such fairness!
