A Random Night In Waitangi

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

Started to play some pool
With an English guy hitting them in as fast as Zool
He disappeared without a trace
Was having a few pints alone afterwards
Vaguely remember his face
Two Waitangi girls started talking to me
To be honest they looked a disgrace
Then came questioning and the 10th degree
I don't know Captain Cook
I'm more like Peter Pan in Hook
Telling me what my English ancestors took
Tried to explain that I'm not the one to blame
The look they kept giving was exactly the same
A few pints in and invited back to their place
It was then that I slowed down my drinking pace
Asked to add them on Facebook
Was told no, oh well
Dawned on me that I better make a move
Eventually returned back to my hostel

a sequel to 'the great escape'?
    choosing, realising
before the fact, before it's too late
    learning
    from our lessons of life..
(a vivid scenario some of us
    can relate to
thanks for sharing, dear poet )

They were nice enough but my gut feeling told me not to go back to their place haha. Not saying they were going to bury me in the backyard but could have been a crazy situation.
