Morning After

Morning After

The day the rains came

began in the mist of the morning.

Was in the uncertainty of the early morning rain

that his beloved blue-eyed girl

brought the rain that filled the leaves with tears.

When all his dreams raced across his eyes

and his loving mind heard the whispers within the rain

“I'll be gone. . . good times gone. . . moving on. . . loneliness inside

broken heart. . . I’m still in love with you. . . don’t look sad. . . life goes on.”

Meaningless to a man without hopes and dreams.

“What’s come over you? I’m nothing without you.

What have you done? My heart burns. . . I have nothing to say.”

He falls to his knees and utters

“Love me for one more day, one more time.”

She turned away as she replied

“You’ll find another.”

His heart breaks at the speed of her words.

“All the best”

and with that she walked through the door

out onto the streets of London.
