Have you been thinking about me too
did I cross your mind once or twice
or have I yet to know the thought of you

do you think of me but see a different face
do you hug your mama or ask daddy's advice
did you screw up and beg for God's grace

do you think you've got it together
only to find out you're a liar
do you overthink every single endeavor

are you on the other half of the stars and earth
lying wide awake thinkin' about what's in store
do you feel half empty like we were separated at birth

perhaps you feel nothing and exist only in my dreams
are only a construct meant only to drive me crazy
never to be the patches on reality, or its sewn seams

for my shoulder to remain straight, cold, and dry
not meant to hold my hand or mischievous smile hide
for your head to remain upright with no tears to cry

no picnics, nature walks, and no fireplace kisses
no late-night car rides or "no you hang-ups"
no valentine's days or anniversary misses

no little bo peeps or buzz lightyears
for I don't settle, and if not you then
I'll be an old maid with few tears

for life with whoever you are will break
our backs, hearts, barriers, and our walls 
many tears await this life we're going to make
