Broken trust

Kathryn Amaka

Once upon a time, I felt so alive

your love was like sweet honey in my hive

But then I learned of a kiss so untrue
A kiss of betrayal, how could you do?

I gave you my heart, my soul, and my trust
you broke them all, and left them to rust
Your kiss was a dagger, sharp and unkind
It pierced my heart and shattered my mind

Now I'm alone, with wounds that won't heal
Left to wonder how love could turn surreal
Your kiss of betrayal, it stings like a bee
And now you're gone, leaving me to flee

Goodbye my love, you'll always be a stain
A memory so bitter, so full of pain
I pray your next kiss brings you same
A kiss of betrayal, a fortune of shame.
