Small Tree On A Spring Morning

JoshV123

On a cool spring evening, a small tree stood

On a busy street, few other trees near

On small slender branches, crumbly leaves curl

Struggling against the cool wind’s gentle breeze

Stuck in one place, the world moves around it.

Small birds dance and fly while big cars zoom by

The yellow buds on the tree were closed shut,

The yellow lamp posts slowly start to dim,

As the sun’s rays start to shine on the street,

Small Squirrels scurry from the tree’s crevice,

In search of small nuts hanging on branches,

By the tree stood yellow dandelions,

blooming out their small beautiful petals,

Now the small tree is busy as the street,

Hustling and bustling with exquisite life

  • Comment from author about the poem: I thought a few words including beautiful sounded cliche and instead I chose alternative terms instead. For example, I used the word, exquisite as a word to describe a true being surrounded by animals, leaves, and dandelions despite being near a busy neighborhood.
