On His Shoulder

Towertoday

Im just a little bird

On God’s shoulder

Asking Him questions

about when I’m older

He says it will come

to me in good time

No one asks the bird’s purpose

before its flight

We just know

Its a personification of God’s love

as we are all

creations from up above

So as I keep asking

him questions more and more

He asks me why I need

to keep knocking on His door

When all His answers are in the present

And his hand holding me

Is the moon and its crescent

A sunlit tree

A grain of sand

A dreadful storm

Your mother’s hand

Its all unique,

you understand

Its all a gift

from the palm of his hand

It was all written

In His kind, masterous plan

That’s why we call “now” the present

His love for you Is always endless

So as my chirps die down

I hear just one sound

Its my hand reaching for the stars

With my feet on the ground

A wind blows from behind me

Reminding me I was lost and found

So I’ll leave all my questions for when I’m older

Because here,

at peace, I can stay

On His shoulder.
