Remembering C.B.

orchidee

I can give you his first name - Chris (Christopher)

'Twas back in '68, those 55 years ago

The primary school class I was in had swimming lesson

I was not in the pool that day, but observing from outside

A sunny day with outdoors pool

But suddenly an emergency

Chris, one of the best swimmers in the class

Got a hand caught under some pipe

That went round the edge of the pool......

No one could free him

Ambulance arrived - but a tragedy

We were left stunned at his passing away

Now a bird-bath stands in his memory

Drink from the bath, little birds

And know we have sweet memoires

Of why your bath was installed

Gone - but never forgotten

A strange feeling -

Chris not been here with us the last 55 years

How might his life have turned out?

He lived just up the road from the school

We can't answer the 'Why did it happen?' question......

I have found that remembering those who have passed is as though we have kept them alive and living within us. You carry them with you as a true friend does- beautiful poem darling.
