Red Tape

AuburnScribbler

Let that; what was obvious,

fill screen and page again,

from uninspired commissioners,

comes recycled pain,

we know they had a soiree,

and not a conference,

thus, their jingle mingles,

dulls our confidence,

then he escapes the light,

without an apology,

with so-called honours list,

such warped psychology,

but remember, they are there,

because of ticks we wrote,

if to act like this; is law,

perhaps we shouldn’t vote,

as hand in hand, they laugh,

not reflecting any thoughts,

where questions are unanswered,

as they can’t be found in courts,

thus, Scotland Yard, I drink a pledge,

a fine force to be cherished,

you keep the wealthy, healthy,

and ignore impoverished,

and in such woeful crying,

we search of who to blame,

we think that we are changing,

but we are all the same,

and with pious tone,

we dare to be profound,

how can purity; give birth,

from beings who burn the ground,

so, wake up, and look around,

stop thinking you’re the victim,

with our base humilities,

we’ve created such a system,

we vote them in, they break the rules,

the vicious circle, we shape,

what’s the meaning of life? You ask,

well, it’s to create some more red tape.

  • Comment from author about the poem: When we say, "I'll just catch the News on TV/ I'm reading the Newspaper", doesn't it seem so repetitively "old"!? To me it is, and so much so, with the story of the "Party-Gate" scandal of the Conservatives during lockdown, and now the blondie-grey prince of British politics, Boris Johnson, now resigning, with a request to satisfy his questionable "honours list". With humanity's core operation infuriatingly in full swing, it begs the question via our endeavours, what actually is the meaning of life? Sadly, as a result of our activity massaging more division and dissatisfaction, a clear answer to that "time old" question could be: RED TAPE, the creation and recreation of RED TAPE! The banner/background picture to me, looks like the scorched skin of mankind, or a close up image of the red tape itself, fading over time. I hope that you enjoy the poem, a thousand times again, when will it get any better? And as always, please do stay safe everyone.

Thanks for the read orchidee, and righto, nice idea.

A couple of years back, I became quite lazy, when it came to wrapping presents, so I just bought gift bags and a sticky bow to go on the gift bags, but, I'm happy to report, and you'll be please to know, I wrap properly now.

I hope that all is well.
