Distant But Close

Tightness in my chest 

I cannot hold back anymore 

Tears were pressed against my eyes when you had left 

I look up at the sky 

and I began to cry

 

My mind raced to happy memories

It is painful to see you leave 

I am upset that time thieves  

 

the tricks I pulled out of my sleeves

Seem to not have a reaction with you 

I feel so blue 

You are my glue 

I give you meaningful clues 

I am going to miss you too 

 

I do not want to start brand new 

And never to fall through 

I wish you had knew before you leave 

And the way we grew 

Now I fit your shoes 

The continued loop

I Don’t want to hit snooze 

But it’s for the best 

Even if my heart is bruised
