Progress

sorenbarrett

There were the dark ages

then the Renaissance

enlightenment only an illusion

darkness from sages

as science gave its responce

mistrust's blindness a new delusion

Mechanical magic stole the show

truth sold for comfort held dear

misdirection to violence and fears

a cloud of deception did grow

now only a thin veneer

a blanket of false liberty appears

A hope for immortality

was the spark

to put death in chains

technology fed flames of vitality

leaving its mark

now only ashe remains

    we traversed from the plague
    to coronavirus
    yet, all those generations
    never noticed a difference
    just more ammunition
    to our woe n laments
    ...
    (insightful word, dear Poet
good to see history hasn't been 'cancelled'
    for all of us)
