Ghost Lifeguard

BlueJay210

My mind screams loud of
Memories that haunt me
Dumb men who used me
My younger self crying
The tears become rain
Blinding me as it pours
Turns to an ocean
I never learned to swim
Darkness that's pitch-black
Help me, I can't breathe
The only light there
Comes from dangerous fish
Hear his distanced screams
Pleading loud from above
Asking, begging me
To come back home to him
He is reaching out
He pulls me in his arms
I feel safe and loved
The rain fades to rainbow
Only ocean left
His cerulean eyes
Only voice I hear
Comes from his soft, pink lips
His smile is so bright
It scares away the ghosts
My hand shields my eyes
Which is when I realize
He's no longer there
He has taken his leave
With the other ghosts

A really sad poem, which hits even harder because of that ending where the illusion of a loving person fades and one is left alone. Anyhow it's well-written and I like the metaphors used here and the shortness and sharpness of the verses.
