Who Do You Believe In? (Stop Daydreamin')

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

False idols are popping up for a reason
Only the awake are rivals in this summery but dark season
Pharrell with his $1,000,000 Louis Vuitton bag
This man is 50 years old and a dad
Don't envy what you've never had
Fantasising for all these things
They push materialism but the soul has wings
Stop daydreamin'
Chasing overpriced labels is just reconstructed fables
Who do you believe in?

I bought a bag rom Poundland. It was very expensive, costing me £1. I could have got it cheaper from the 99p Shop! heehee. Call me Scrooge.

    I take hand me downs.
Dressed by the "House of Dunn" for the last 5 years.

I might even get a Louis one day,
If I am a good boy!

    just sad,
    from myth heroes
    to greed's envoys
    lacking so much awareness
    because their world is now
    luxury and excess
    yet, they too once felt
    the misery
    of the mass unprivileged, forced
    to watch-on
    as the fortunate, callously
    parade their indifference
to the suffering of the world
    this isn't a culture, things
it's just the inhumanity of those
    too self-evolved
    to check themselves, and
    surrounded by too many, pilfering
    yes men
to get checked for their bull sht!

Agreed mate, I see it more and more each day. It's a vicious circle.

Materialism is so extreme nowadays, what exactly makes someone who has money qualified for respect? Often those are the people who are the most corrupt (though of course, not all rich people). And being grateful for what you have is a virtue, we shouldn't forget.

Completely agree, sad how people are being pushed in the materialistic direction relentlessly.
