Backstabbers

Pacifique Niyitanga

Sandstorm and sand

A brother in crime, a traitor in court

Betrayal from a loyal, backbite is all

The lies and promises, oh ties and all

Wound, salt and sand

Friends, oh foes, ones I used to court

Grounded by the walls, squash court

Drawn lines, folly, blindness, and all

A beach without sand

Storms, I was the sand; nothing at all
