A bird stands on a roof
with a wish to rest a wish to be
in the place of her wishes
she stands on a roof trying to assert herself
and the roof says but I want you to fly today
little bird on the roof has needs
has wants , wishes to be
wishes to be heard
yet the roof in her tedious tile ways isn’t listening
she’s listening to herself
and wants things her Tedious tile ways
someone wants things their way
one way
but is that fair when little bird has needs too
is she being heard
and why does it have to be the roofs tiring tile ways or no way at all

- Comment from author about the poem: I’m honestly not sure about this one . I wanted to try writing about when someone wants things their way and won’t consider your feelings enough .. People can be difficult sometimes , I guess Any comments appreciated

I think this is wonderful filled with emotions I believe we learn how to compromise it's not all just about me or you , so clever that you see both sides. Well done ❤️
Thankyou teddy 🙂 I was thinking about a certain situation .. I have an older sister who hardly ever offers to come and visit and when she does it always has to be when and where she wants . I have a neice and nephew who I havnt seen in over a year . Some days I just don’t want to go out or not for longer than a certain amount of time . She’s constantly saying she won’t come into the house .
Exactly , teddy .. there should be a bit of a compromise sometimes
Thanks so much for the support 🌸
We all have these type people ❤️
there is a marked difference between wants and needs and too many people get confused or use the terms inappropriately .. but I can fully understand and appreciate where you are coming from .. a pleasure to read you as always Violet B .. ⭐ 🙂
Yes ,there is a difference between wants and needs . Thanks so much for the support ))
I think it can be difficult and kind of frustrating when we feel someone isn’t listening ..
"Tedious tile ways"
Fly little bird
You have the wings to go somewhere less tedious
We can choose our friends not our family
Thankyou tepo 🙂 yeah we can choose our friends ..
Yeah I was thinking about a situation with my older sister .. I’m not close to her but yeah I feel she is a little selfish ,
Just wanted to write about it ..
Appreciate the comment
Good write V.
Thanks orchidee ))
It can be very difficult when another person feels the need to be in control of a relationship, especially when it involves a family member. For the better part of my life I always gave in to what the people in my life wanted me to do. I didn't want to hurt feelings, or have arguments, and I didn't want them upset with me, I wanted to keep peace. By never expressing my desires I enabled them to keep that control. I understand all these years later, had I stood up for myself, I may have ruffled some feathers, and there may have been hurt feelings, but if love and respect are strong it will overcome obstacles. You express your feelings in this poem admirably and I hope that you can find that accomodation between give and take. God bless dear friend!
Hi Bella Thankyou for your kind words )) yea it can be difficult when someone just wants things their way and you don’t seem to get more of a say .. sometimes we want to please others but we also have to realise we are important too .. sorry you had difficulties with others in the past .. people can be frustrating sometimes
I feel others don’t consider my feelings enough sometimes and yeah that doesn’t seem fair
Appreciate the kind words
The metaphor is well taken. Everyone wants what they want with little consideration of what is good for others. We live in a selfish world and have to look out for our own needs while at the same time being considerate of others.
Thankyou for the kind words )) yes some people can be selfish sometimes . And it can be frustrating when you feel the other person isn’t considering your feelings enough and they just want it their way
