"In the USSR, we only had oranges on New Years!"
Is what my Mother always said,
While trying to teach me a simple lesson
To not take things for granted
I must learn to count my blessings
for soon they could be gone
anything I've ever worked for
and the love I thought I'd won
Because sooner or later
Life gets in the way
Roadblocks of failure and disappointment
Appear in just one day
But I can't let that stop me
Simply make myself a new path
It might be difficult at first
But the anger will eventually pass
Then I'll realize all I've ever wanted
Is what I've had all along
Among my friends and family
I'll rediscover where I belong

Grass always seems greener on the other side
until we realise what we have
