I Saw A Sadness In Your Face by Richard Martin

I Saw A Sadness In Your Face        by Richard Martin        3/4    166

When I saw you last night with another, I saw a joy in his face

As I sat and watched you darling, I saw a sadness in your face

I know that you still love me, and that it’s more than a trace

Though you smile and pretend that you’re happy, I see a sadness in your face

As I sat and watched you darling, I knew no one could take my place

Though you smile at those around you, I see a sadness in your face

I know that I hurt you darling, and that I caused you disgrace

I’d give anything in my life dear, if I could change the sadness in your face

If I thought it would make you happy, I’d leave this old world without a trace

Now I know it’s too late to change dear, for I see a sadness in your face

If my life should end tomorrow, this old world would be a better place

And if you had never loved me, there’d be no sadness in your face

I saw a sadness in your face
