Moonlit Duality

 

How is it possible to have two selves? One for day and one for night
In sheer wondering, getting lost in the moonlight
Being free and thoughtless, a world without desire
Making dreams of the future for things you aspire

Or getting up early and going to work
And leaving behind a piece of your soul
A piece of the madness, to try and make sense
To be part of the normal, the boring and tense

To make everything steady and stable and wise
And all your decisions, you must have thought twice
But where is the wonder that brings the soul?
And when did you master to turn so dull?

The sun might feel safe but is it worth the risk
Of living a life so boring, forgetting the bliss
That you had when you were younger, getting lost in a maze
Of imaginative thoughts and an artistic haze

But how does one get to decide
Which one of the rules to abide
To be like all others and feel you’re correct
Or leave all commitments and end up in debt?

How do you balance the sun and moonlight
How do you save yourself from getting cast aside?
How can you be happy, if stability is naught?
But how can you live, without the dreams you have brought?

This fight never ends and it will crash you inside
But such is the price you pay for being a child
With a brain and a heart the size of a train
But my only wish child, is that you’ll manage to stay sane
