Umbrella

Violet bluebell( used to be yellow rose)

An umbrella sits outside in the lighthearted rain
In the sighing rain of louder notes
she sits outside catching the nice feelings
the smiling raindrops
Allowing them to sit
Allowing them to be
Landing in her  space
feeling lightness singing within

she sits outside in the sighing rain of louder notes
feeling the sadness
feeling the sighs
raindrops of tiring emotions falling
And she wants to look after them , care
because she’s an umbrella who’s meant to help
An umbrella who wants to be there
sensitively soothing to those raindrops in loud notes

this umbrella can’t push rain away
they fall
they sit
and so she cares for those hurting raindrops
unable to turn them away
she cares for everything she feels
even if they are not of a lighthearted laugh

maybe with care the loud notes of the rain may turn into the smiling sun

  • Comment from author about the poem: I guess this is about soothing ourselves , looking after ourselves ( even with difficult feelings ) trying to be with the feelings instead of almost pushing them away ( which I know doesn’t always help how I feel ) Self love / caring for ourselves ..

I got all wet, cos I didn't want the umbrella to get wet. She didn't fancy getting drenched. Doh! lol.

I often feel like I am an umbrella pretending to be a shield .. trying to protect them .. keeping people warm, safe and dry .. I guess that's the nature of my work .. and as far as your authors note is concerned, I think there is a very important message contained within it .. Neville 🙂

Thanks Neville )) and it’s always nice to be caring towards others . .. tho I guess it’s difficult to see others who are upset .

Yeah , I guess we have to protect and care for ourselves .

Trying to learn to sit with my feelings instead of pushing them away ( tho that can feel difficult sometimes .) . Tho I try to be nice towards myself

      Appreciate your kind support

Dear poet the imagery of this poem is priceless. You have described beautifully the interplay between emotional opposites in our lives. We need both to live fully as sentient beings. Incredible!

One umbrella in a rainstorm can only do so much. It can't handle the entire deluge.
A very nice poem giving an umbrella life like qualities and a caring heart. I enjoyed it. - Phil A.

This poem, named Umbrella, is lovely and inspiring. It captures the essence of how we should all strive to be like an umbrella, accepting and caring for all the emotions and experiences that come our way, even the ones that may be difficult or sad. The imagery of the rain and the Umbrella is so vivid and poignant, reminding us that sometimes we must weather the storm to see the sunshine. And through it all, we can provide comfort and support to those around us, just like an umbrella sheltering us from the rain. Let us all strive to be like this Umbrella, helping to turn the loud notes of the rain into the smiling sun.
