Taker

peto

The steely fire shot from her eyes

Put paid to all rebellious cries

The rest she'll simply hypnotise

The taker of lost souls

A quota rising every day

So many keen to slip away

Not fit to face another day

Being dragged over the coals

Confined by an electric fence

The tortured tingle as they sense

The lady should she take offence

Has heads put on her poles

The guilty take it in their stride

The shamed still seek a place to hide

The wheels are coming off this ride

She's picking at the holes

Eternity in her embrace

Attracts the heart that has no space

She walks among the human race

Playing many different roles

Magnificently written here peto, I love the juxtaposition of the cheerful rhyme against the savage content.

Though mother nature be the mistress of mistresses, I hope that there can be some consolation from her; towards a species that doesn't really know what it's doing.

Bravo again, and I hope that all is well!
