I do not grow in symmetry
I will never be your perfection
And the roots I plant will hold the ground
Best without your intervention
And still I’ll find perfection
Despite the twists and turns of life
Far from the cage of your desires
And the pruning of your knives
I’ve weathered you for seasons
I’ve known the weight of your despair
Yet I have never ceased to grow
In the beauty I appear
You’re no mother, Mother Nature
You’re no reason to delight
Just a distraction from the sun
That but a fool would idolize
