All the ashes

bevan tse stuart

Our love was like fire

it was strong and it was fast and it seemed to never end

but fires die

and all that’s left is ashes.

these ashes that I still sit and look at.
whilst you moved on so quickly I am still looking for the sparks and embers

i dig and cover myself in this carbonic dust

if no one can see my skin no one can learn these scars I showed to no one but you

all the places only you touched

but whilst a little soap and water may cleanse this veil from me,

no amount of scrubbing nor scraping will remove you from my being

from my hands, from my skin, from my body, from my mind, from my house, from my bed, from my clothes, from everything you touched
