VIRGINIA

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

More drunk with sorrow
Than the cheap wine
Loneliness so deep
Health in decline.

The letter it reads
About Virginia it pleads
Poet hoping at midnight
Man dying at dawn.

The alcoholic eye it is glazed
As all beauty it fades
Mind scarred by pain
Labelled insane.

Baltimore nursed its dying wizard
As the end slowly dragged
About Virginia he pleads
His last thought to steal.
