Light

B. Frost

Tears in the sand as the sun begins to set
Behind the dusk the long days of regret

A reflection in depth of the time that has passed
Never knowing the number of the ones that will last

An epiphany to sort as the memory sustains
A drizzle from heaven cold as it rains

A moment in time to assess the cost
Finding pieces of self-direction since lost

The distance ahead guides the turn
A body of temptation remnants to burn

Scars to be healed in a time that is short
The pain from the loneliness still left to purport

Making a connection in the hours that be
All this time right here alongside me

A violet-blue as the shade settles to pink
The years with the sun both sizzle and sink

Beyond the horizon the day loses its glow
The darkness engulfs me from behind and below

Essence in the air for one that seeks clarity
The breeze that cools the rushing disparity

Looking above for answers to stay
A peaceful calm in the skies of gray

Whispers from the heart in the words that I say
A comfort found with the trust in play

Feel the colors vary from day to the night
Behind the shadows of the dawning light
