The toy at the top of the shelf

Jake B

Their sits a toy, at the top of the shelf. Lonely in the dust.

Across from him is his neighbour, a toy car covered in rust.

They share the same sad story, they have not been loved in years.

They share the same dark shelf, united by their fears.

They have been left for some time now, their family moved long ago.

Both these little toys, surrounded by weeds that have started to grow.

One day the shelf is dusted, a new family have their picture in the frame

Little do these broken toys know, it is time to be loved again.
