The Red Dress

Poetic_Carm

In verily, a girl adorned in hues of red,
A new dress, her heart with elation fed,
She twirled and danced, pure beauty on display,
A fire in her eyes, joy lighting her way.
But alas! One wretched soul, so cruel and cold,
Called her ugly, each word a venomous scold,
Like daggers to her heart, his words did pierce,
A fragile soul shattered, consumed by fierce tears.
Fair maiden, once enthralled by life's sweet bliss,
Now hides away, lamenting in the abyss,
Her new red dress, now naught but ash and smoke,
A symbol of her pain, a torment she evokes.
Oh, how the mirror lies, reflections unkind,
A single voice deterring her weakened mind,
She locks her heart away, no longer to be seen,
Her radiance fades, trapped in a self-made screen.
The sun retreats beyond the darkened sky,
And with it, her spirit, as shadows multiply,
Never again shall she venture 'neath the sun's embrace,
For her soul lies tarnished, lost without a trace.
The once vibrant streets, now desolate and bare,
Echoes of her laughter, carried by the air,
A tragedy unfolded, her light now dimmed,
As loneliness engulfs her, hope grows slim.
Oh, heartache's toll, a heavy burden to bear,
A shattered dream, a life stripped bare,
But in her solitude, a strength begins to rise,
Through the ashes of her dress, redemption lies.
With every tear shed, her spirit mends anew,
A phoenix reborn, with purpose she'll pursue,
No longer defined by cruel words, but strength instead,
A girl, once broken, rises from the ashes spread.

This reminds me of a poem I had written and posted on this site " She Found Herself Upon the Cliff" as this has imagery of one who feels lost, hurt, abused, but at the right moment, when needed most, that person arises and finds strength to keep going. Very well written.

I like it, and may the girl actually be like a phoenix!
