The moments that rip your heart out
Paint jagged scars across your soul
Like the desecration of a shark attack
They fade over time
Become less inflamed
Less furious
Less raw
But when the light catches at a certain angle
Or someone cares enough to look closely
The shiny silver slivers are still visible
To the well trained eye
