saint mary

bat

given a baby boy under obligation.

young and yet to be married.

giving birth to a martyr,

just giving birth to her baby.

offered something small and vulnerable.

the lamb he named just to slit its throat.

god gave mary a baby boy

just to take him back in the worst way.

that’s not fair to give her motherhood

and have her watch her baby boy die.

leaving mary’s child begging in a garden

to be loved enough to be saved.

it’s so sad and nobody looked to god to ask,

why the fuck would you do that?

god doesn’t feel remorse for anything,

so he won’t look mary in the eye and tell her

that he’s so sorry he killed her baby.
