In memory of Sinead O’Connor

L. B. Mek

Notice of absence from L. B. Mek
'fare ye well' kind friends

Fare ye well, our beloved Sinead

In that stillness grace, beyond breath

may you

Find warmth, in your child’s embrace

Nothing compares to that unblemished

veracity

You imbued into every song, every note

In your suffering we witnessed your defiance

Your life, a legacy of unflinching bravery

Hoping you may now be granted that serenity

Which evaded you in life, may you find peace

By your music’s capacity to empathise

By your sincerity’s, authentic river of tears

By your willingness to strive for justice

Your resplendent effervescence

shall evermore

Shine, indomitably sublime!

Rest ye well, our troubled friend

My dearest Mek.Some people just aren't meant for this world and she struggled all her life and made the most magnificent music out of her pain. She was a legend in the world not afraid to speak her truth and beyond her exterior was a very fragile being. She never really accepted herself. Another tragedy of life. 💖

    • L. B. Mek

      Amen!
(her defiant spirit, we shall miss
grateful for the exemplar heart and music
she generously, chose to share with us
that will evermore: heal, inform and endure)
      may she be granted peace

Hi Mek I heard of her passing away yesterday .. and only the other day before I heard this , I was listening to the song ‘ nothing compares to you ‘ she had such a beautiful voice / lovely singer

I didn’t realise she struggled with so much .. so sad that she committed suicide .

A sad yet nicely expressed writing Mek .. ))

yes, her voice was uniquely cathartic
her music will be missed, a rare gift
and you are right nothing compares
        is a wonderful song
        thank you! kind Poet

Such an incredible songwriter and singer... among other things. Very sad. I'll always remember her. My favorite is her interpretation of "Nothing compares to u" written by Prince. Very nice tribute!

'incredible' is a most fitting word
          to summarise her poetic legacy..
I had to try and scribble something
we all lose a little, i think
          when beautifully soulful people
          like her, leave us behind...
(admittedly, I was nervous writing this one
          because it meant too much
to edit and redraft and was worried
it wouldn't be worthy of her memory
so your last three words mean a lot
          thank you! kind Poet)

A most appropriate song to accompany this poem a eulogy to a most accomplished artisan. The pain that we suffer is seldom seen by others during our life but felt by many in our passing.

          • L. B. Mek

            !!Amen!!
'The pain that we suffer is seldom seen by others
during our life, but felt by many in our passing.'
(your wisdom astounds me dear Poet
I read and try to heed, thank you!)

indeed, such a beautiful troubled mind and with the voice off angel .. I think you have just said .. and so well, what many of us had thought of saying .. Neville

so true she was 😇 and will be remembered for being so..
              😢
your words have a way of sidestepping my defences
and raking at those raw feelings, I try to keep hidden
              thank you! Hyung
you unfaltering support never fails to humble me

I've always loved her music, but never really knew her struggles of life. It seems she poured it all into her music. This song is so pure and haunting with her beautiful voice, gaining strength as each voice joins her. As I read this wonderful tribute the dam just burst, and it became hard to breath. Being a mother, I cannot fathom the anguish she suffered. You've done a masterful job in this wonderful tribute, God bless her and the son she loved so dearly, peace is with them now.

              • L. B. Mek

                'peace is with them now.'
                indeed, I truly hope so.
and I hope you only shed therapeutically healing tears
                my empathetic friend
I too was overwhelmed when listening to this song
                after hearing the sad news
she will be missed by those lucky enough
to appreciate the laudably brave example
she conveyed with her staunchly sincere
                music

Such gentle words of compassion for a restless soul at last flown to ‘Find warmth, in your child’s embrace’

                • L. B. Mek

                  'Amen'
                  (from your crimson ink fingertips
to fate's ears, may it be just so)
                  thank you! wise Poet
may she and her son rest in peace

                • MommaBear23

Beautiful tribute. Hoping that her soul is surrounded in divine love and peace.

                  • L. B. Mek

indeed, may she be granted peace
she will be missed and her music celebrated

She will be missed. Such a tender soul. Beautiful, moving poem. Very well crafted.

                    • L. B. Mek

Missed and hopefully remembered as well
Her story and talent deserve nothing less..
                      thank you!
