Wings Don't Fail Me Now

Introverted Sage

Trust.
Who can I trust if I don't trust myself?
Trust.
Begging and pleading yet not much seems to help.
Trust.
I've been here before. At the Apex, the Crossroads, the Choice.
Trust.
Do I fall back in line or stand up and use my voice?
Trust.
When no one else was there who was with me through it all?
Trust.
Everytime I took that step who ensured I didn't fall?
Trust.
Life has not been easy and sure times have been tough.
Trust.
A leap of faith again. Surely, I'm enough.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Quick write for a contest on another site. [ https://allpoetry.com/contest/2838880-Another-Rilke-Quote Contest / Another Rilke Quote This is what the things can teach us: to fall, patiently to trust our heaviness. Even a bird has to do that before he can fly.” (Rainer Maria Rilke) *** I dearly love Rainer Maria Rilke and his poetry. Take this quote as a prompt for your poem, let it inspire something deep, something beautiful, something that echoes in the reader’s mind… All styles and forms are welcome, I like both freeverse and rhymed poetry. (But please no Haiku or such, I am no expert in that, sorry) No maximum word count, just don‘t make it a novel, please. I‘m ok with reserves, but please finish your poem within two days once to contest is closed. And just so you know: I‘m usually taking my time with the contest judging. Have fun. ? ]
