Memorial Day Weekend(2022)

Soph

fire encloses in my eyes

my lashes flick with fireflies

the dark oak woods that surround us

wave back and forth singing around us

the pond down pass the field

is cold and shivers as you feel

the water lillies linger towards you

and the tall grass that goes for you

the wild flowers that spring up

around the house and such

and glowing with spring lies

and summer kisses and autumns shys

catipillers and inch worms crawl in the shed

up on the hill by the mailbox: red

the window panes are filled with ladybugs

and curious ivy growing with shoves

the leaves and grass intimidate ocean waves

flowing as the sun covers them in rays

like a moth to the porch light, i burn as you whisper

about the long walks of fire and ember
