Cheerio for now

Lynda May

I held your hand, I watched you die,
I did not weep nor did I cry,
I felt your spirit had left your soul,
Your broken body had met its toll.

It was a relief, your suffering was gone,
There's a big empty space where your face once shone,
You struggled with life right up to the end,
But it's with my love your spirit I send.

You're in the arms of those you loved,
They came to get you from above,
They held your hand and took you away,
The time was right I know you'd say.

You fought your battle, you gave it your best,
But you had to leave, you needed to rest,
You showed us all just how to live,
Your life is done, no more time to give.

My heart is broken there'll be no more,
I won't see your smile or open your door,
Its time to move on and start anew,
My worlds upside down but within me is you.

You taught me well, you made me strong,
With your guiding light, what can go wrong,
I know you're there right by my side,
I felt your love that night you died.

We'd said it all, our lives were complete,
No business unfinished, you took your retreat,
A new chapter in life, a new story unwritten,
I move forward now, I've had your permission.

Get on with life I know you'd say,
Don't waste your time, I've gone away,
I can't come back, you must move on,
You are my daughter and I made you strong.

I loved my family right up to the end,
Even in spirit my love I send,
I'll watch over you all from high above,
Please be strong and embrace my love.
