Oh to be Helen
face that launched a thousand ships
to have beauty so inflated
that men are eager felons
and war is created
as the original plan flips
I find myself to be Hector
a role in this unplanned
with each graze against her
and the sneaky slip of your hand
But you’re not Paris
an irresponsible soul
once in tandem with mine
you are Achilles
the strong warrior
a total opposite of the word benign
A loss to you
is a step to winning the battle
but in a sea of red
you paint me blue
and play with bones
like a child and its rattle
My part in this
the death of me so real
is a godforsaken prophecy
you will pay for
with the weakness of your heel
So run with the wind
and bask in your glory
as you will be remembered
a prominent end to my story
but do not forget
the chaos you caused
as a hero always dies
with a lapse in his clause
you may have took me out
but my deeds remain unfinished
as your brain will scream and shout
for my haunting of you
cannot be diminished
No trojan horse can save you
from the stupidity of yourself
for your singular weakness is documented
with each book lining the shelf
Take this reminder of my fate
to keep you on your toes
a memory so delicate
like the petals of a rose
At least Hector received a funeral
a gift I was not given
so I’ll embrace the fall
and wait for your arrow to be driven
