The unhelped helping hand

stephwrites

You lend them your ears

and you dry their tears

You hold their hand

and listen to them to try and understand

You let them vent

And to a certain extent

You wish for once that it could just be you

The one having ears lent

The one having tears dried

The one being held and comforted too

The one being told

“Everything is going to be okay, I love you”

    it's so hard
in you is a light of empathetic goodness
    you feel only natural to share with the world..;
    and yet
every time you need a helping hand
the world teaches you just how cruel it can be...
    tells you
only the cruel thrive in this world
    but
a few of us, find strength enough to prevail
to be who we are, and not
what the world wants us to be
    eventually, we're granted a chance
    to find others like us
and have our kindness be rewarded
until then, it's a tough lonely journey
stay strong! choose your people carefully
    thanks for sharing
