Almost Paradise

Frank Moses Phiri

In pursuit of dreams, I sought 'Almost Paradise,'
A journey paved with hope, my heart set to entice,
But fate's whims teased and danced, just out of reach,
A tantalizing mirage, with lessons to teach.

With every step forward, a step back it seemed,
A waltz of near triumphs, then hopes that gleamed,
Through trials and tribulations, I pressed on,
Through the shadows of doubt, my spirit shone.

The sun kissed the horizon, promising delight,
Yet dusk veiled the promise, fading from sight,
In the grasp of uncertainty, I lingered near,
Humbled by 'Almost,' whispers in my ear.

With every brush of success, fleeting as the wind,
I learned to cherish the journey, not just to win,
For within the struggle, I found strength and grace,
In the pursuit of 'Almost,' I found my true place.

I embrace this dance, this ever-trying,
For 'Almost Paradise' resides in not complying,
For in the quest for dreams, I learn and I grow.
