An Angel to Me
I find you strewn across a chair in the center of a great room with stone walls. Through the window I see firey hail pouring outside.
The floor is covered in shards of the mirror you shattered. Your hands are bloodied and eyes unfocused. Your wings have been tattered and seared from the fires outside
The glass cuts my feet as I come to you.
I watch your chest heave breaths labored with pain. I curl up beside you and spread my hands across your skin.
All I can do is uncork my aching heart and pour it into you;
I pray to every god there is that you drink it deeply into your bones.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is about a dream I had that gave me great insight into the beauty and sorrow of loving someone who is hurting. In the dream, the “you” I refer to appeared as a “devil” type man, bat wings and horns, and jagged striped crimson red and jet black skin. A single rose lay on a writing desk to the left. Though I knew he was my love in real life, This was the first time I had met him in the dream. but I loved him so deeply from the first glance I couldn’t help but feel our souls were entwined
