A mask

In shadows veiled, a broken heart resides

A fragile soul, where strength just barely hides

The world may see a smile upon my face

Yet deep within, it's turmoil I embrace . 

A masterpiece of masks, I paint each day

Determined to keep my true self at bay

Though cracks may form, I mend then with grace

For fear of other seeing my true space

Within the labyrinth, emotions fray 

A whispered torment I strive to convey

But through it all, my strength remains steadfast

A fortitude, resilient and vast

Like fragile porcelain, I seem to shine 

Hiding the fractures caused by life design

pretending to be fine, when shadows creep

A silent struggle buried dark and deep

For in those moments, when the façade fades

Authenticity blooms amidst the shades

And though it seems the world would cast me aside

I'll find compassion's arms open wide
