He came to this world to die for our sins
You can see why by the state we're in
Temptation to distract us
From the truth of the law
Love one another do not fight and war
He died on the cross to save us from hell
But we've created that place all by ourselves
The goods news he brought has been mostly ignored
I wonder if kindness makes us feel bored?
And when he arose to cast away doubt
Right there and then he proved a way out
And so here I am a sinner so old
Crying out to return to the fold
Because this earth we are in
Has too much sin
I'm weak and I'm lost
And my hearts worn and thin
But i see now that I have gone wrong
That my free will that was given
Was meant to be yours
So I pray to you lord
For forgiveness and strength
Will you let this repenter
Into your house at the end?
I know I'm unworthy
But i will try to be good
I'll follow the truths
That are in the good book
Because you're the only way out
Of this hell full of sin
I see it so clear
I want no part in it
So please take my hand
Lift me up to your light
And I'll promise and try
To be a Christian guy

Good write SC.
I knew a young Vicar. He was an OK kind of guy. He got 'promoted' to be Evangelical Advisor to the Archbishop of Canterbury - he is there at present.
I thought you were going to regal me with a limerick there Orchi
I knew a young Vicar.... Thanks for visiting
Not the actress and the Bishop joke, that they say is swoony! Not that I know the joke exactly. lol.
I'm not religious in anyway but your poetic pen always touches my heart dearest Sax. We have some of the same thoughts and hopes. 💖 I hope you and your family are well darling.
Hi Teddy - That's cool I'm not asking you to be religious (although I do have a pamphlet....)
We are all good thank you. How are you and yours? x
This is a surprise! You never came across as religious, Sax. If you have always been, then I commend your ability to keep this private.....
It's there in some of my poems mate. Just really not declaring my 'loud barbaric yawp' about it .
Was going to thank you for introducing me to Walt and then discovered I knew 'O Captain! my Captain' all along....
Take care of yourself.
