A Memory Not Lost

duggantherhymer

In the twenty first century no Irish Traveler horse drawn vans parked at the Shannaknock Cross
What is change to many is to some a huge loss
Before the Millstreet Town horse fairs to the Shannaknock Cross they always did arrive
Of the what used to be only memories survive
Through six decades in time to the distant past
On looking back the years time seemed to go fast
Their colorful vans and carts drawn by their pinto horses mostly black and white or white and brown
On the byways of Ireland they traveled up and down
But the increased traffic on the roadways to travel by horses brought to an end
That industrialization brings with it changes one can depend
And change to tradition does come at a cost
To those old enough to remember a memory not lost
Of the Irish Travelers horse drawn vans parked at the Shannaknock Cross in the long ago
Going back in time some six decades or so.

Isn't that long ago, now we are speeding towards what?
