Ocean's Mercy

pourout._

Clear blue skies
Oceans so wide.
Call out to me
In a desperate cry,
Engulfing me in its serenity,
Producing in me
The only feeling of survival
In this world full of disguise.

Moments I pass, struggling to breathe,
No I am fine
But my emotions bleed.
Coping up and keeping pace with –
I cannot anymore.

It’s been so long since I have been home,
Not the confined brick walls of concrete and dust
But the space in which my soul runs free
My heart stops to bleed
My body thrives and breathes.

The ocean is my home
With the mermaids
I belong.
No I cannot swim
I am an outcaste among those magnificent breeds -
But with them I feel at peace.

Clear blue skies call upon me
I want to flee
But it’s not in me
To betray what I have been endowed with
A life among the most powerful species.

I do not know
What the life after ruin holds for me
So I choose to live in this reverie
And let my emotions bleed –
For survival is a fight
For holding on to life
And there’s still some fight left in me.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Ocean is the gateway to a life of fantasy for me. When life feels like a burden so heavy, I prefer sitting at the bay and gazing upon the mysterious ocean that, god knows, hold what magnificent secrets.
