Vacation

Abhishek Ramamurthy

The sunrise in the cool breeze showed

How calm an environment can get

The sunset in the warm breeze showed

What beauty a faint light can generate

The darkness under the moonlight showed

How deep conversations can get

And the lighting over the ocean showed

What chaos the mind can generate

The backwaters of a city showed

How much filth humans can forget

And a small treat from a stranger showed

What kindness can co-create

The movements of the crabs showed

How rewarding stillness can get

The force of the crashing waves showed

What even the strongest can't protect

A mind before a vacation showed

How mundane a lifestyle can get

And a weeklong vacation showed

What a mind can do after a break

A calmed soul with perspective showed

How easy life can get

And a mind out of control showed

What one chooses to love and hate

....

How to conclude

Is for y'all to figure out for yourselves

Because how you perceive

Is what you get.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem on 20/04/2022, after a vacation that lasted for a week. While reflecting on how I felt before, during and after the vacation, the words were in a flow. And I just had to pen it down. It is my first and always a special one to look back to. I hope you like it.
