You’re Still My Mom

Nicole Kay

Even if you made a tragic choice,

One made amongst great fear and noise.

Even if for reasons at the time too difficult to bare,

You are there and I am here.

You’re still my Mom…

Even if you never held me,

Or rocked me safe to sleep.

Even if you didn’t guide me

Through the times when life got deep.

You’re still my Mom…

Even if together we never laughed or cried,

Or lived my precious milestones.

Even if some will say that a real mom

Would never kill her own.

You’re still my Mom…

Even if it all seemed to end as soon as it began,

I was created in love and to love and forgive you, I can.

Even if you carry deep fear, guilt and shame,

Promise me you’ll take me with you and forgive yourself, in His name.

You’ll always be my Mom and I’ll be waiting just for you.
